Bronze Divisions

Membership requirements

Competitors: 

  • Provincial/Territorial Sport Organization membership for the province in which they reside (ie: an OE or Cheval Quebec membership)

  • EC Bronze sport license​

A reminder that points are only accrued from the date that appropriate memberships are in place. Points cannot be accrued retroactively.

​

​

OVPSC GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS:

• In the interest of horse welfare, it is encouraged that riders and trainers consider limiting the number of classes a horse participates in per competition.

​

• A rider’s and horse’s eligibility will be verified. Should it be determined that either are ineligible, points will be retroactively revoked. No refunds will be issued.

​

• Competing in the Cross Rail Division will not count towards years of eligibility.

​

• For clarity, a competitor is deemed to have successfully competed when their entry number is marked on a judge’s card and they received a score.

​

• Horses and ponies are permitted to enter all OVPSC classes and divisions. Distances will not be adjusted.

​

• OVPSC divisions do not qualify for Trillium Championships, with the exception of the following divisions: 2’3” Open Hunter, Cross Rails, and 0.75M Jumper, .65m Jumper, .75m Jumper Medal.

​

• In under saddle or flat classes, not more than 10 horses shall canter at one time.

​

• Riders have the option to compete solely in the under saddle class of a division. Points will not count towards championships or annual year end awards.

​

• In the case of any discrepancy, the website shall be considered the official and correct source of information.

​

• To qualify for bronze champs, competitors must have competed at a minimum of 2 shows.

​

• To qualify for year-end awards, competitors must have competed at a minimum of 3 shows, and bronze champs again will count towards points and show numbers.

CROSS RAIL HUNTER DIVISION

Open to all horses and ponies, distances will not be adjusted. Riders must be a junior or amateur as defined by Equine Canada rules. Riders may only cross-enter into age-appropriate equitation on the flat and hack division (and any specialty class(es) at the Trillium Championships designed specifically for riders in this Division).

OVPSC/THJA

INTRO HUNTER

Maximum jump height of 18”. No oxers. Open to beginner riders only in their first or second year of showing, no age limit. Riders may cross enter into 2’0” Hunter, Pre-Novice or School Horse as long as they meet division qualifications. Horses and ponies permitted to trot their lead changes. To be judged as a hunter division.

PRE-NOVICE

Maximum jump height of 2’0”. Oxers permitted. Intended for riders in their first year of showing (with the exception of the Intro Hunter or beginner divisions). Not open to professionals or riders competing in any division over 2’3” on any circuit. Distances will not be adjusted. Horses and ponies permitted to trot their lead changes. To be judged as a hunter division. Riders may cross enter into 2’0” Hunter or Intro Hunter as long as they meet division qualifications. If not competing in Intro Hunter, these riders may cross enter into the 2’3” Bronze Jr/Am Hunter division.

2’0” BRONZE HUNTER

: Maximum jump height of 2’0”. No oxers. Open to all riders, horses and ponies. Distances will not be adjusted for ponies. No oxers.

2'3" OPEN HUNTER DIVISION

Open to all horses and ponies, distances will not be adjusted. 

OVPSC/THJA

 BRONZE 2'3" JR/AM HUNTER DIVISION

Maximum jump height of 2’3”. Oxers permitted. Open to Junior and Amateur riders on horses or ponies. Distances will not be adjusted for ponies. Riders cannot cross enter into any division with a jump height greater than 2’6” at the same competition or have competed above 2’6” in the last three years. Does not qualify for Trillium Championships.

SCHOOL HORSE

Maximum jump height of 2’0”. No oxers. Open to riders enrolled in a weekly lesson program riding horses or ponies, owned by, or leased to a riding school, and used regularly in a riding school lesson program. Not open to professionals or riders competing in any division over 2’3” on any circuit. Distances will not be adjusted. Horses and ponies permitted to trot their lead changes. To be judged as a hunter division. Please note: A school horse is a horse or pony ridden by different riders on a regular basis in an ongoing lesson program. If horse/pony is full-leased to a rider it is not considered a school horse.

BRONZE HUNTER EQUITATION OVER FENCES and ON THE FLAT

Maximum jump height of 2’0”. Open to riders entered in 2’3” and under divisions, and open to eligible riders in the 2’0” Hunter or 2’3” Open Hunter divisions.

0.65m BRONZE JUMPER DIVISION

Open to all horses and ponies. Three (3) Table A classes.  No combinations.  Time allowed of 325 metres per minute.

NEW for 2026 THJA/OVPSC

0.75m JUMPER DIVISION

Open to horses and ponies. Maximum spread 0.85m. Combinations are limited to a minimum of two strides; vertical to vertical or oxer to vertical.

THJA/OVPSC

NEW .75m JUMPER MEDAL

This class is open to Junior and Amateur riders only.  This class has a jumping phase with the flat phase at the judge’s discretion.  Jumping phase to be ridden first. Additional testing options also at the judge’s discretion.   If there are two phases, the medal will be judged 60% over fences and 40% on the flat. 

 

Tack & Equipment: All tack and equipment remain the same for both phases. Only running martingales used in the conventional manner are permitted. No standing martingales, draw reins or restricted running martingales are permitted. Conservative coloured headgear (As per Article G1109) with no additional adornment. Stirrups are restricted as per Article G1109-G).

Jumping Phase – The jumping phase should be over an equitation type course of at least nine (9) fences.  Fences will not exceed ..75M in height with a spread not to exceed the height.  

​

Flat Phase – At the judge’s discretion, all riders, or a maximum of 12 who complete the jumping phase, may be called back to perform on the flat and demonstrate tests on the flat of the judge’s choosing.  The top four (4) riders in the flat phase may then be asked to complete a short test including fences determined by the judge.  When this test is being ridden, the riders will turn their backs so they cannot watch the other competitors.

THJA/OVPSC

.85m Jumper Division

Open to all horses and ponies. Maximum spread 0.95m. Run under Table A.
